Essential Communications

The current LMVAS Capital campagin is to replace our portable radios that are over 10 years old. The current portable radios, radios our responders carry with them while on call, are no longer serviceable and contain outdated software which can negatively impact our ability to communicate with mutual aid departments, as well as the hospitals we transport to.

On top of being significantly smaller, new radios will also have the ability to transmit on encrypted channels which have recently been implemented at area hospitals to protect patient information when notification of incoming patients is relayed to allow hospital staff to prepare for an incoming critical patient. This also allows for better communication with mutual aid partners who may respond to assist LMVAS in the event of a large scale incident.

LMVAS needs to replace ten radios at an approximate cost of $5,500 per radio, however obtaining fifteen new radios would place LMVAS in a much stronger position to ensure adequate communications amongst crew members on spread out scenes such as those when responding to Palisades State Park, Cornell College, or other school buildings. 

In Memory of Dan Rogers

Dan Rogers was a 20 year volunteer with the Lisbon-Mt. Vernon Ambulance Service up until his passing in 2019. Dan had a passion for assisting the community and quickly advanced his education to that of a paramedic where he provided advanced care to the Mount Vernon and Lisbon communitied for several years. Dan strongly believed the quality education provided at LMVAS as an essential part of the Excellence in EMS that LMVAS strived to provide. 

After his passing, Dan's family recognized that Dan could continue to contribute to the LMVAS through a memorial fund aimed at continuing to enhance the education abilities and offerings provided to LMVAS members and volunteers.
